A Storied History
Established in 1901, Hotel St. James stands as one of the longest, continuously operated hotels in New York City. Designed by renowned architect Harry B. Mulliken in his trademark Beaux-Arts-style at the turn of the twentieth century, our hotel has witnessed over 120 years of the city's vibrant history.

Early Check-in: Guests may check-in early if their room is ready for a charge of $25.
Check-In Policy:
- To check into the hotel, the guest whose name is on the reservation must be present and at least 18 years of age.
- Upon checking-in, the guest must provide a government-issued ID (passport or US driver's license) and a valid credit card (VISA, Mastercard, or American Express).
Incidentals Policy:
- Upon check-in, a hold of $100 will be placed on the guest's credit card for incidentals.
- The funds will be returned automatically upon departure unless the guest has caused damage to their room or the hotel, has not paid part of their reservation fees, or has incurred some other charge that has not been paid.
Cancellation Policy:
- For reservations made through Hotel St. James's official website, a deposit equal to the first night's rate will be charged at the time of booking. Cancellations for such bookings can be made up to 48 hours prior to the check-in date. If a reservation is cancelled prior to the 48 hour period, $25 will be retained as a cancellation fee, and the remainder of the deposit will be refunded back to the same credit card used to book the reservation. The deposit for such bookings is non-refundable if the reservation is cancelled within 48 hours of the arrival date or in the case of a no-show.
- For reservations made through a third party platform (e.g. Expedia, Booking.com), please refer to the cancellation policy associated with your reservation on the booking platform.
- Non-refundable reservations cannot be cancelled or modified, and any deposit or amount paid is not refundable.
